Hayden Youth Basketball

Age is determined by players age on August 1st of the current season.

Registration is generally held online during the month of October.  After that, registration for each age group may be closed independently depending on the number of kids registered.

In person registration dates are set each season and will be posted

Evaluations are held each season for all ages.  This allows the coaches to see how each player can dribble, shoot, and run.  Evaluations are usually held the first week in November.  You will be contacted through email and phone with a specific date and time for you to attend.

If you are interested in coaching a team as either a head coach or assistant coach, please indicate so during registration.  West Blount Park requires all head coaches to submit yearly background checks.  Cost is $20 and is completed through Protect Youth Sports.  Click here to complete the background check.

Q: How do I determine which age group my child plays in?

Q: What days could practices and/or games be held?

A: Due to the amount of teams we field each season, there is no way to tell you a specific day of the week or time when your child's team will practice.  However, practices are generally held on either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.  Weeknight practices generally are an hour long and start at either 6pm, 7pm, or 8pm.  Saturday practices could start as early as 9am or as late as 8pm.  We encourage our coaches of our younger age teams to schedule practices earlier in the evening, however it is not a guarantee.

Before games begin, teams usually practice twice per week, but it could be more or less depending on the coach.  Once games begin, most teams will continue to practice at least once per week, but it could be more.

Q: Where are games played?

A: 6U Boys, 8U Boys, 10U Boys, and 12U Boys: If we have enough teams, we try to play all games at Hayden.  If we have three or less teams in an age group or if we have an odd number of teams, you may have to play a single game during the season at another gym in the North Jefferson area (Warrior, Morris, Corner, Gardendale, or Fultondale)

7U Girls, 10U Girls, 13U Girls, and 15U Boys: These age groups play in the North Jefferson league.  You will likely play at least half of your games at home and the other half at other gyms in the North Jefferson area (Warrior, Morris, Corner, Gardendale, or Fultondale)

Q: When are games played?

A: During the regular season, games are played on either Friday night or Saturday.  Usually 6U boys play on Friday night and the remaining age groups play on Saturday.

During the Christmas Jamboree or either post season tournament, games may be held on weeknights.
