Kellogg's Field Work - Day 2

Postby KillerDs on Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:58 am

Went to the park about 10am and they were working on D Field. He said they should be finished with D Field around noon, so I have plans on going back about 11:30 or so for new pics. Lou came over and talked to me and said he was having trouble getting his clay in, so he may have to come back Saturday to finish up, but said he was going to be talking to Jeremy. On a positive note, he said that the initial estimate for sod was going to be high, so the extra money they had budgeted for that will probably be used for new base stobs and possibly home plates. He said the bases were WAY off (I think most of us already knew that). He was very nice and let Dillon (my 3 year old) ride the gator with him, so you know I had to get pics of that too. :)

SHANNON ROCKS...even if she did marry Shea. (hey, we all make mistakes....) :D :D :D
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.

Thanks for the pictures Shannon. They are great.

I have been really impressed so far with Lou and his staff. I mean think about, how easy would it have been for him to simply "pocket" the difference in the sod rather than offering something in its place.

Went back around 1:15 and they weren't quite finished with D Field, but oh my, it is beautiful! I can't wait for you all to see it! Pictures just don't do it justice!

I also just want to say, that when we had average looking fields, the park as a whole did not look too bad to me. Now that our fields have had this makeover, I see more of the problem areas. We now have a park to be proud of and I hope that everyone will see that and make an effort to ensure that the park as a whole improves along with our fields! We got this grant money together, and I am sure that together, we can work to make West Blount Park a place that people love to come and play!

I totally agree with Shannon. I think one of the easiest things we can do that doesn't cost a penny is to make sure that we as parents set a good example for our kids and help take care of the improvements that are being made. We are going to have a nice park once all of this is finished and it will take some work and some money to keep it nice. However, little things go a long way as well. Don't let your kids throw rocks on top of the buildings (which will soon have new metal roofs), don't let them throw their trash down and keep walking, don't throw your cigarettes on the ground when you finish smoking, don't let them bounce their baseballs/softballs off the walls of the buildings ( or their basketballs on the gym lobby walls). If I'm stepping on toes with this post, sorry. But I see so many parents just let their kids run free and do whatever they want while the parents sit there and say nothing (same thing happens at the gyms during basketball season too). Make sure you know where your kids are and know what they are doing so that ALL of the kids involved in the park will have something to be proud of for years to come.

Actually - the entire park is supposed to be a smoke free facility so there should be no smoking there to start with!
Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

Shouldn't that be TOBACCO FREE?
