Update on Traditions Park

Parents

There has been a lot of questions, rumors, and misinformation going around surrounded the new park and I just wanted to send everyone a message to clear everything up.

To begin, Traditions Bank has been an integral part of the construction of this new park since the beginning.  If they were not involved, the park would not be where it is today.  They have donated time and money to this project and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done for us and for the kids and families in this community.  The next time you are in the bank, please let them know how much you appreciate them and if you don’t bank with them, please consider doing so.  They are investing in our community and we should invest in them.

As for the new park, the goal was to play this season at the new park.  If any of you have ever been involved with a project of this magnitude, you know that it presents unforeseen challenges along the way that push the completion date back further and further.  Along with that, because we are funding the construction with donations, there are times when the money runs out and we have to wait until more donations come in before construction can resume.  Because of this, we moved the possible opening date to park day this year, and then moved back again to May 20.  However, the park is not ready yet to start hosting events.

Construction is continuing almost daily and we are working hard to open the new park as soon as it is possible.  However, we want to make sure that everything is complete and we want to provide you with the best ‘first impression’ of our new home as we can.

All of that being said, we are hoping to open the new park this summer.  Right now, estimates are that we will open sometime in July 2017.  Once we know that everything is ready, we will plan a opening day event that will likely include inflatables for the kids and baseball/softball games for the kids.  Please follow the West Blount Park page on Facebook to keep up with the latest information on everything going on at the park.

We want everyone to know that we are working hard to finish this project strong and provide the best place possible for your kids to play for years to come. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at president@westblountpark.org

Thanks

Help keep our gyms clean!

Parents
Both Hayden Middle School and Hayden Elementary School have been extremely good to our park basketball program by allowing us full access to their gyms during the season. Without them, we would not be able to provide a basketball program for your kids.
With that in mind, please clean up any trash around you when using the gym for practice and/or games. Also, during practice at either gym, please do not allow your children to play with the schools equipment or go on the stage. These gyms are used as classrooms on a daily basis and they should not have to come in each morning and clean up after us.
If we don’t keep the gyms clean, we will lose access to them and won’t be able to provide a basketball program for your kids any longer so please help by doing your part.
Thanks

Shea Layton

Hayden 6U Softball Does It Again!

Hayden’s 6U All Stars softball team went to Hueytown to play in another Pre-Area tournament and after being beaten by a great Gardendale team early in the day, they came back to win the tournament by beating Gardendale 12-10.

This weekend, they will be the #1 seed in the Area tournament being played in Fultondale.  Come out and support your 6U All Stars!
